Let it Snow!

We have been fortunate enough to get more snow than is usual for this time of year (within the last week). After living in Ukraine through three winters of cold, wet weather, and not much snow, it is great to see!

So, today, Kai and I went out skiing, tried out our new skate skis… I learned a few things. First, I am seriously out of shape! Secondly, Kai has grown a lot. Third, he is a better skier than I am. Fourth, he can go up hills faster than I can. Fifth, he has more endurance (this from a kid who has suffered with serious asthma problems for years).

Fortunately, I can still go down hills faster than he can (without falling). I guess size has it’s advantages – but he’s catching up fast.

We had fun! Let it snow… the more the better.

Life goes on…

Yes, we’re still alive…

Gradually, we’re trying to settle in to life back in Canada, trying to get enough work, and trying to figure out what’s next.

The kids are getting involved in various activities. Kai is playing hockey again after being away from it for three years (no hockey rinks in Krivoy Rog). Petra is skating… Kira will be taking ski lessons (once we get snow).

Canada is still like it was – but everything looks and feels different after our experiences. That’s something we’re still trying to process!
